Carrie Sparks McClain, the author of Dragonfly, will hold a book signing event at Beans Creek Winery, September 6, 2014, 7-9 pm.

Carry S. McClain grew up in Winchester. She wrote songs, essays, short plays and newspaper articles. Carrie earned a bachelor’s degree from Middle Tennessee State University. She returned to her hometown to marry her college sweetheart and work in the undergraduate admissions at Sewanee: The University of the South.

Dragonfly is Carrie’s first book. Carrie calls it romantic suspense. The book was released on May 27, 2014. It took two years to complete. Many of Carrie’s ideas for the book came from living in the small town of Winchester. She did some of her research by talking to local people. Carrie used her own memories of growing up with the beauty of Tim’s Ford Lake to set the scene.

The author started writing the book as a challenge to herself to try something new. She did not have an intention to make Dragonfly a series when she started. Now, Carrie thinks she might continue the story. She has ideas for at least two additional books. She is currently working on the second book of the series.

The book signing event coincides with Beans Creek Winery’s music night. Cal Burks and Friends will perform. Winery staff will be on hand to offer tastings. Pig on the Run will offer barbeque for purchase. For more information call 931 723 2294.
